We sat down with Brynn to find out some of her top Apple Watch fitness tips and tricks everyone can use to improve their routines.

Set a Move or Stand Goal (or Both!)

With everything going on in the world, it's easier than ever to have an excuse to sit all day long — whether it's working from home or watching hours of Netflix. Setting a daily Move or Stand Goal is a great way to get out of the chair and move around.

To set a Move or Stand Goal, head to the Activity app on your Apple Watch, swipe up, and tap Change Goals. Tap plus or minus to adjust your Move Goal, then click Next. Continue setting your goals on the following screens and click OK once you're done.

Keep Your Workouts Interruption Free

Nothing interrupts the flow of a great workout like notifications for emails, iMessages, and reminders. To auto-enable Do Not Disturb when starting a workout, open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap General in the My Watch tab, tap Do Not Disturb, and toggle on Workout Do Not Disturb. It'll also automatically turn off once your workout ends.

Have a Friendly Workout Competition with a Friend

A little friendly competition is an amazing way to stay motivated and keep friends and family accountable. To get started, open the Fitness app on your iPhone and navigate to the Sharing tab. Tap the person/plus icon, then select the contact you want to share with.

Once your friend accepts, open the Activity app on your Apple Watch, swipe left to the Sharing section, select your friend, scroll down and tap Compete, then tap Invite. The competition kicks off two days after they accept. Good luck!

Autoplay Your Favorite Playlist When Starting a Workout

To automatically play a fitness playlist when you start a workout, head to the Watch app on your iPhone. Under the My Watch tab, scroll down to Workout, then find Workout Playlist. Select your favorite playlist and it'll autoplay every time you begin a workout.

Pro Tip: This feature currently requires Apple Music — Spotify support may be coming in the future!

Enable Automatic Workout Detection

One of the major keys to a successful fitness journey is tracking progress. To enable Automatic Workout Detection, head to the Settings app on your Apple Watch and scroll down to Workout. Toggle on Start Workout Reminder and End Workout Reminder. You'll then get automatic reminders to start tracking whenever you're running, walking, swimming, rowing, or on the elliptical.
